March 30th Newsletter

Hello St. Cecilia Seahawk Families,

Over the past week, I have either talked to you by phone, left a message, or have received a text to hear that your family is healthy and staying home. I’ve relayed it to the staff too. The feedback I have receive has been nothing but positive. If you were missed please know I’m an email away sdefreyne@bhncdsb.ca.

At this time, I would ask that you keep our school families and staff in your prayers. Also, please have your child teach you how to Meditate. Our school participates in daily Christian Meditation and he/she could walk you through our practice. It really calms them. Check out the twitter feed to see Mrs. Bouw and Mrs. Carr’s class participating in Christian Meditation.

Please follow us on twitter @stceciliahawks. If don’t have twitter, you can check it out on the school website www.stceciliaportdover.ca and see the twitter feed on the right hand side. Please note right now there are a few polls for parents to take part in to help BHNCDSB (Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic School Board) make the best decisions going forward.

Just letting you know that we have a special St. Cecilia video coming to your mailbox tomorrow and hopefully will be posted on twitter.

Some Seahawk Tips:

Breathe.
We are all missing our students and school families.
We will get through this together. There is no prize at the end other than that we all come out of this healthy and strong to see each other again.
Our goal for the next little while is for you to feel supported and children have some learning to keep their minds active for a little bit every day. They still need outdoor time, downtime, and time to de-stress too. D2L is not meant to replace everything we do in a classroom.
If you aren’t sure what it is you are supposed to be doing, that is ok too. Reach out and together we will try and solve problems.

A special thank you to our St. Cecilia families, who have offered to help others and those that are already doing this. Another shout out to our staff who are spending this week learning the Brightspace (D2L) platform as this digital learning is new to them as well. Last shout out is to Mr. Herbert for cleaning our school over the Break!

Things to Consider:

At this time the Catholic Family of Churches had ask if anyone is able to support the following:

St. Vincent de Paul is in need of FOOD, non perishable foods, for our food banks so we can continue in this difficult time to meet the needs of those who have less than we. We are collecting this for our four parishes and the Food Banks they organize. We have two DROP OFF places.St. Mary's Church, boxes for the food are behind the church and hall, at the door between the church and school, north side. Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs boxes are in the Car Port between the church and office. DROP OFF will be only WEDNESDAYS in April (1, 8, 15, 22, 29)  from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Another opportunity is you are interested in online music lessons contact: dagostinoks@yahoo.com

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Good Health to all,

Mrs. Defreyne
